A drive by Marshall University fraternities and sororities to collect school supply items for the Boys and Girls Club has resulted in the collection of more than 6,800 school supply items.
In the past two weeks, the Fraternity and Sorority Life community collected 6,839 school supply items from the organizations and their members. The drive kicked off the week previous to classes and ended Wednesday.
The supplies collected will be delivered to the Guyandotte Boys and Girls Club by members of the Fraternity and Sorority Life community at 4 p.m. Friday.
MU Fraternity and Sorority Life recently began a three-year partnership with the Boys and Girls Club to help raise funding, awareness and resources for the three local clubs. Other coming events include a Trunk-or-Treat from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Guyandotte Boys and Girls Club, a winter clothing drive in the month of November, a toy drive in December and a kickball tournament and Easter egg hunt next semester.
