Nitro police have issued traffic advisories due to the 51st Nitro Antique Car Show and Boom Town Day scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
As a result of these festivities, Route 25 will be closed Saturday. Route 25 will be closed between 19th and 22nd streets along with a portion of 21st Street just off of Route 25. Route 25 will be closed from 8 a.m. until about 11 p.m. Drivers are urged to use Second Avenue as an alternate route around the event.
There also will be a tractor-trailer and larger vehicle detour. That detour will be going through the Industrial Park from Republic Way to Pickens Road. Signs will be posted to instruct drivers as to where the detours are located.
For road closure information, you may contact Patrolman H. R. Blake at 304-755-0777 until 6 p.m.
Information about the event activities may be obtained by contacting Kelly Pruett with the Nitro Convention and Visitors Bureau at 304-932-2300.
Nitro Antique Car Show activities will take place Thursday and Friday at the Mardi Gras Casino & Resort.
More than 200 antique cars will be on display starting at 6 p.m. Thursday. There will be a live band, and the Poker Run winner will be announced.
On Friday, Model Ts will be on display at the resort with a race starting at 3 p.m.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the Nitro Antique Car Show,” General Manager Bob Lagg said. “This is the 51st anniversary of the event, and we invite everyone to come celebrate these great activities.”
The resort is located off Interstate 64, Exit 47, in Cross Lanes.
