The former superintendent for the Upper Big Branch Mine will not be sentenced until next year.
Gary May has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the federal government for his actions at the mine where an explosion left 29 miners dead in April 2010. A Charleston newspaper is reporting that a prosecutor said the government needs more time to develop May’s cooperation.
Sentencing was originally set for October, but has been pushed to mid-January.
