Troopers have identified the man who they say killed a West Virginia state trooper and injured three others before being shot to death. State police say 22 -year-old Luke Baber of Oak Hill was the shooter.
Baber's family was too upset to speak , but in 2009 called deputies to the house. They found his father restraining him on the floor warning he had a gun. He fought with deputies. That comes from court records.
At the time of his arrest, Baber told deputies he pulled what turned out to be a b-b gun in an attempt to "get law enforcement to kill him." There were drugs, Xanax, involved in that incident and friends said he still had substance abuse issues.
Fayettte County Sheriff Steve Kessler found disturbing links with the two incidents.
Baber was convicted for misdemeanor domestic battery and assault in a plea deal. Baber had an uttering charge pending, but no further violence with law until he was pulled over in a truck reported stolen hours earlier to Oak Hill Police. Then violence went off the scale. I
