A head-on crash on Route 94 in Hernshaw at 6 a.m. Tuesday injured both drivers and snarled traffic for several hours, Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies said.
Travis C. Koontz, 21, of Charleston was driving on Route 94 when his vehicle went out of control, traveled left of center and struck a truck owned by Walker Machinery, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department. The truck was driven by Christopher Plott, 50, of Ripley, the release said.
Both drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital for treatment.
The crash disrupted the flow of traffic on Route 94 for several hours during the morning commute. Speed and wet pavement are believed to be contributing factors in the crash, the sheriff’s department said.
