A Cabell County bridge has been named in honor of a soldier who was killed in action during the Vietnam War.
The 4-H Camp Bridge off of Alternate State Route 10 is now the Pfc. Rodney Kent Ranson Memorial Bridge. The bridge was dedicated Sunday.
Ranson was killed Nov. 21, 1969, near the Cambodian border, one day after his 21st birthday. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal posthumously.
Ranson's niece, Cheryl Gergely, said the family is pleased to see his memory honored.
