Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin unveiled a statewide plan Thursday to fight substance abuse in West Virginia and said he is earmarking $7.5 million to establish and expand regionally based substance abuse support services.
“We need more prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery programs in all four corners of the state to fight the substance abuse epidemic,” Tomblin said in a news release from the governor’s office.
The announcement was made at Turning Pointe for Families, a drug treatment center for mothers in Beckley. The release said the governor was joined by lawmakers, members of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Substance Abuse and members from the regional task forces.
