A stabbing at Friday’s restaurant in Cross Lanes apparently occurred after the suspect became upset that the victim was allegedly having a relationship with the suspect’s girlfriend, authorities said. Tony Randall Blankenship, 27, of Nitro allegedly stabbed Shane Ray Thompson, 35, of Dunbar with a box cutter-style knife outside the restaurant about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said. Crosier said Blankenship and Thompson, employees of the restaurant, had been arguing when the suspect followed Thompson out of the restaurant and stabbed him in the upper left side of the chest. He said the wound did not appear to be serious. Blankenship was charged with malicious wounding, Crosier said. He was transported to South Central Regional Jail where he was being held on $30,000 bond. The jail website did not list Blankenship Friday as being held there. The name of the suspect arrested in connection with a stabbing Wednesday at a Cross Lanes restaurant and the name of the victim have been released by authorities. Tony Blankenship was taken into custody following the incident at Friday’s, Lt. Bryan Robbins of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday. The man injured was Shane Thompson, Robbins said. The ages and hometowns of the individuals involved in the incident were not available. Dispatchers said a man was stabbed in the chest at the restaurant about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. A spokeswoman at Charleston Area Medical Center said Thursday that she could not release any information about Thompson’s condition. Crews were on the scene of a stabbing at a Cross Lanes restaurant.
