FAYETTE COUNTY ACCIDENT Deputies Say Man Flees After Striking Wrecked Vehicle

A Fayette County man was in critical condition after he wrecked his vehicle and then was struck by another vehicle whose driver fled the scene, authorities said.
Ricky Petry, 53, of Kincaid was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center by HealthNet after the accident that occurred on Route 61 in Wriston about 11:15 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department said Petry wrecked his vehicle and was struck by another vehicle driven by Thomas A. Dent, 55, of Robson. Dent was located in his vehicle after the accident in the Robson area, the release said.
Dent was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license, no insurance, improper motor vehicle inspection decal, improper registration and two counts of seat belt violation.
Dent was transported to the Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment in Fayette County Magistrate Court.
Route 61 was closed for about an hour while law enforcement responded to the wreck.
