Kanawha County residents in the mood to go on a cleaning spree this fall are in luck. Fall cleanups are scheduled, and items will be accepted at three locations in September and October.
The first event will be Sept. 29 on Call Road in Sissonville, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Commission. The second event will be Oct. 13 behind the Cabin Creek Go-Mart. The last cleanup will be Oct. 27 at the Rehabilitation Center in Institute.
All cleanups will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All items will be accepted with a few exceptions. No gas or propane tanks, paint, chemicals, motor oil or other hazardous materials, such as meth-making materials, will be accepted.
"These are some of the best spent tax dollars we spend each year; this program is essential to keeping Kanawha County beautiful and litter free," Commission President Kent Carper said in the news release.
"This program gives people an alternative to dumping debris into our streams and over hillsides all over the county, which is where it would end up without this program."
