An Elkview woman celebrated a milestone Thursday when she turned 103.
“I’m just happy,” Eula Shafer said. “I’m happy that the Lord let me live that long. I give him credit for everything.”
Shafer did not have a party to mark the occasion, but she was in good spirits. Her caregiver said she is in pretty good health. She uses a walker to help her get around.
The Kanawha County resident has lived on Aarons Fork Road her whole life. She was married, but did not have any children. Her only relatives still alive are a niece and nephew.
