Kanawha County sniper suspect Shawn Lester pleaded not guilty to drug charges Thursday in federal court in Charleston.
Lester is accused of distributing oxycodone and cocaine in the Sissonville area for about six years. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon in front of a federal magistrate. Lester will go on trial Oct. 15. If he is convicted of the charge, he could spend up to 20 years in prison and face fines up to a million dollars.
In July, Lester agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder in the sniper-style shooting death of Jeannie Patton. The charges that he murdered Okey Meadows and Gary Carrier were dropped.
