Twenty workers at Clearon Corp. in South Charleston will be laid off when the facility temporarily shuts down in mid-September, workers said Wednesday.
Workers said the company expects the plant to be shut down for two to two and a half months, depending on market conditions. Poor market conditions over the past couple of years have led to the temporary shutdown.
While the facility is temporarily closed, it will allow Clearon to reduce inventory levels and costs.
Chlorinated dry beach such as the tablets and chlorinating granules used in the swimming pool industry are produced at the South Charleston facility.
