A man accused of causing severe brain injuries to his infant daughter was back in court.
Jerry Schrode had a preliminary hearing Friday morning in Lawrence County, Ohio, after being charged with causing his 6-month-old infant to suffer from bleeding of the brain.
Schrode told his attorney that is not what happened. "He told me he went to make a bottle for his child, and the child fell off the couch," attorney Michael Davenport said.
Earlier this week, he was part of a grand jury case in Boyd County involving the death of a 14-month old in his care. Kentucky state troopers said Schrode was the only one home when the toddler died, but a grand jury did not find enough evidence to indict him in the case.
Meanwhile, his Lawrence County case has been bound over to a grand jury. It could be presented to the grand jury as early as this month. He remains in jail on a $300,000 bond.
