A career criminal convicted of preying on the elderly is sentenced today.
A judge sentenced Gary Mullins to 25 years in jail saying he is a menace to society and a social parasite. It is a sentence the family of one of his victims is very pleased with.
Mullins was convicted of felony kidnapping of an 84-year-old man named George Jacobs. Sadly a day after Jacobs testified he died.
Authorities say it was from natural causes, but Jacobs' family believes the stress of this violent crime ultimately led to his death.
The 25 year sentence sits well with a family who wanted justice.
Mullins says he is not guilty of kidnapping and plans to appeal and ask for for a retrial.
