It's a meeting of the minds in Charleston. Lawmakers from 15 southern states are in Charleston for a special conference. The goal is to learn from one another.
Delegates shared successes and failures withing their education systems. West Virginia Delegates in the Education Committee are taking notes from other states, especially a new report came out.
According to "Kids Count," WV was ranked 47 out of 50 in education. The report said 79 percent of 8th graders aren't proficient in math and nearly 3 out of 4 fourth graders can't make the grade in reading.
Lawmakers from Kentucky shared their success stories like having college and career readiness, a task force on college completion and transitional classes for seniors.
Ideas, tools and information state leaders are sharing to help better serve their people.
