The name of the miner killed on the job Friday afternoon has been released.
Department of Commerce spokeswoman Leslie Fitzwater says 35-year-old Johnny Mack Bryant II, of Lenore, died at Coal River Mining LLC's Fork Creek No. 10 Mine in Boone County.
Bryant was part of a midnight shift crew moving a continuous miner, when he suffered crushing injuries between part of that machine and a mine wall.
Bryant had a year and 14 weeks experience.
Bryant is the third West Virginia Coal mining death so far this year. There have been a dozen nationwide.

A miner was killed in an accident at the Coal River Mining Mine #10. Officials say the accident happened around 4:00 a.m., Friday.
The section of the mine is located in Boone County.
Company officials say the miner was 35 years old. He had a year of experience.
An investigation is underway.
