State Police Cpl. T. M. Divita said Scott Cunningham talked to her in an interview: " why do you think he had these inappropriate conversations--referring to the alleged victim. and he says no clue. " Clueless or not, former Hurricane City Councilman Scott Cunningham faces the more than politically incorrect charges of soliciting a minor by computer that could see him sentenced to up to 20 years (2 counts, 2-10 each) if convicted.
The trooper linked Cunningham's phone to text messages discussing oral sex with a 13-year-old girl. She said Cunningham claimed he would never do what he allegedly talked about doing.
A magistrate advanced the charges against Cunningham to circuit court and the Putnam County Grand Jury. The sexually explicit texts went on from February to late May.
