A permit has been issued to allow a barge facility to come to to Huntington, but it doesn't come without controversy.
The Army Corps of Engineers awarded the permit to Huntington Marine Services, a company located in South Point Ohio.
The company hopes to put a barge fleet docking facility near the Westmoreland area of Huntington.
People living near the river say they are livid - they are worried about noise at night from the barges clanging together, along with coal dust from the barges.
City council can block the permit, council woman Joyce Clark says they can vote to prohibit the barge site through zoning measures.
The council woman says she has the political support to do so.
