Three convicted murderers are in segregation at Mount Olive Correctional Complex after trying to escape from the West Virginia prison.
The West Virginia Division of Corrections says Keith Lowe, Stephen Wilson, and Daniel Smith tried to escape the facility late Tuesday night.
We're told that guards noticed the three were not in their housing unit, but they were found less than 15 minutes later.
Officials say the trio had a plan to breach the complex's security and escape the facility, but they were never able to leave the central grounds of the prison.
West Virginia State Police are conducting interviews with all three of the men. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for more on this developing story.

Very few details are being released, but we do know that it happened around 12am Wednesday.
