A man accused of starting a fire that ultimately led to the death of a volunteer firefighter took responsibility for his actions in court Friday.
Charles Darren Roberts pleaded guilty to 3rd degree arson, 4th degree arson and involuntary manslaughter.
Roberts accepted the fact that his decisions led to the death of Davis Creek-Ruthdale volunteer firefighter Joey King. The 61-year-old was looking for a fire when he fell from a bridge and died.
King's hearing impaired daughter gave an emotional victim impact statement through a translator, and gave Roberts a heart necklace to symbolize the pain she felt after losing her father.
