Utility crews are continuing to restore electricity to thousands of West Virginians who lost service during recent severe storms.
As of Tuesday morning, there are approximately 39,000 outages across the state.
A majority of the outages are in Appalachian Power's territory, where nearly 24,000 customers have no electricity.
FirstEnergy says it has a little more than 15,000 customers awaiting restoration of service.
The first storm hit on Friday, June 29th. Smaller subsequent storms caused outages for people who didn't lose power the first time, or who had gotten back on the grid.
State and federal officials are conducting preliminary damage assessments. Those reports will determine eligibility for federal disaster assistance.
