"As long as I've lived, 73 years, I've never had this," said Dorothy Haddy, "It's one of the worst things we've ever had to do."

Dorothy Haddy is back in her home after staying with family for a couple of days.

"It was so hot we couldn't stay at night," said Dorothy.

She lost power in Friday's storm and tried to stay in her hot home. Her family thought it would be best to go to a cooler place.

"I was concerned about my mom's health," said Anne Marie Haddy, "When there's older people they get flustered more with things they can't control. You don't want to stress them out too much especially if you don't know when the power will be back on."

Not only were they worried about their own health, but their 10-year-old dog, Gizmo is having a tough time too.

"He's been suffering because he can hardly breathe, he's in pretty bad shape," said Dorothy.

Even though the Haddys had to get rid of all their cold food.

"We emptied the freezer and refrigerator and just dumped it all, we had to, everything was rotten, it smelled bad too," said Dorothy.

They say there is a silver lining in all of this.

"In a time of crisis, people will bend over backwards for you and literally give you the shirt of their backs. It's heartwarming," said Anne Marie.

"My brother said that's the longest I've stayed with him!" said Dorothy.

The Haddys lost power again Wednesday afternoon after restocking their refrigerator in the morning. That outage only lasted a few hours.
