Hundreds of thousands are still without power Tuesday following Friday's severe storm that produced winds of up to 75 miles per hour.

More than 214,000 Appalachian Power customers in WV are still in the dark, while about 129,000 Mon Power customers also remain without power.

Appalachian Power's President says the storm was so widespread that it has been difficult to get extra resources into the state to help. Crews have had to come from states like North Dakota and Texas. Many arrived Sunday night but they are expected to arrive throughout the week. The other major issue is with the power grid. Appalachian Power had more than 60 transmission lines damaged, those are the lines huge lines that connect the nation and carry electricity from the power plants and distribute it to the various sub-stations. Those are a first priority, because if the transmission lines aren't working, the supply lines that are down all throughout the region, will be powerless even if they are fixed.

Here are the latest estimates from Appalachian Power on when the power will be restored:

Friday night, July 6 - Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Putnam and Summers Counties.

Saturday night, July 7 – Boone, Cabell, Jackson, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo and Wayne Counties.

Sunday night, July 8 - Clay, Kanawha, Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh, Roane and Wyoming Counties.

And here is a county by county break-down from Appalachian Power on the outages. These numbers are as of 9:30am Tuesday.
