FestivALL's popular Street Art Fair, the Children's Art Fair, Kanawha County Public Library Street Fair and Antique Fair will begin Saturday morning downtown. Set-up for these events begins Friday and will affect parking and traffic on Capitol and Hale Streets throughout the day.
City crews will bag meters on affected blocks two hours before those blocks will be closed to traffic, and cars parked illegally stand to be ticketed and towed. The streets will be closed and towing will be enforced at these times on Friday:
Hale Street between Lee and Quarrier streets - 9 a.m.
Capitol Street between Lee and Washington streets - 12 noon
Capitol Street between Virginia and Quarrier streets - 2 p.m.
Capitol Street between Quarrier and Lee streets - 5 p.m.
In addition to the street fair closures, Kanawha Boulevard will be closed between Capitol Street and Court Street for the Moses Auto Group Live on the Levee concert at the usual time Friday evening, starting at 5:30 p.m. As a result of that and the closure of Capitol Street blocks Friday, eastbound drivers on Kanawha Boulevard will want to avoid the area by turning right on Brooks Street and west on either Quarrier or Washington streets. The Boulevard should be reopened after city crews complete the cleanup following Moses Auto Group Live on the Levee Friday night.
