Bad news for the coal industry. Arch Coal will lay off more than 750 miners in Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia.
The St. Louis based company will close three higher cost mining complexes and preparation plants and reduce production at other operations throughout Appalachia.
The company blames low demand for coal used to generate electricity for the layoffs.
