There is enough evidence to send shooting charges against a former GOP candidate for WV attorney general to a Clay County grand jury.
A magistrate made that ruling today in Clay. Lawyer Hiram Lewis is charged with malicious wounding and wanton endangerment for allegedly shooting and wounding a homeless man who had been staying with him at his Clay County cabin.
Against the advice his lawyer, Lewis took the stand and testified he acted in self-defense when he kneecapped Stephen Bogart as he tried to enter the cabin.
A trooper testified the victim had been living in the home and that his personal effects were inside when they searched it.
