The Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control shelter is reopening today following a distemper outbreak.
Shelter officials say that the shelter has been sanitized and the animals have been treated.
The shelter also is resuming a volunteer program that was suspended earlier this year.
Starcon International of Culloden has donated labor and material for several improvements, including new kennel spaces.
