The Wyoming County Sheriff says a man discovered dead Friday in a swimming pool at a vacant house in Matheny was apparently murdered.
He carried the identification of Chester Stewart, 49, Matheny who was reported missing last fall.
The body, however, has not been positively identified.
The state medical examiner is trying to do that now as well as determine the cause of death.
The sheriff says it appears that the man did not drown.

Authorities are still trying to identify a body that was found in an abandoned pool in Wyoming County.
The body was found Friday, in a pool at an abandoned home on Bear Branch Road in the town of Matheny.
Police say the body had been in the pool for some time.
There are still three people missing from Wyoming County. Bryan Cook, Sherry Myers and Chester Stewart all disappeared last summer; however, there is no word on if this could be one of those missing people.
