52 men and one woman graduated from the State Police Academy Friday. The Thursday shooting of a trooper in Elkins seemed to be on the minds of everyone from governor to boot troops at the graduation.
Officer safety is one of the core values taught at the academy. Many of the young cops felt the last 25 weeks had prepared them for an increasingly violent world on the street.
The new troopers were praised for taking on a dangerous, but important job for the state by the governor and the U.S. attorney
