Children's Theatre of Charleston is once again presenting Roald Dahl's timeless classic, "Willy Wonka, Jr."
The story centers on a young boy named Charlie Bucket (Max Goins). He dreams of winning a golden ticket that will allow him to take a tour of a world-famous chocolate factory.
But Charlie has no idea of the surprises which await him through the gates.
Director Kelly Strom is featuring all of the timeless elements of the story. There are dancing and singing street kids, nut-cracking squirrels and of course. Oompa Loompas. Dozens and dozens of them. More than 80 actors make up the cast...and most of them are under the age of 16.
Will Taylor says playing the title role has been an interesting journey. He's tried to make sure the character is familiar...while still staying fresh and new.
Also included in the cast of 85 is Eyewitness News reporter Kennie Bass, who is playing the Candy Man.
