The death of an autistic patient at Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital back in December has been ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner's Office.
29 year old Matthew Pike's death has been a mystery until Eyewitness News exclusively obtained a copy of Pike's death certificate.
According to the Medical Examiner's Report, it was a "sudden death, the consequence of probable cardiac dysrhythmia due to physical restraint in the hospital."
The Medical Examiner found five medications in Pike's body ranging from anti-psychotic and anti-depressants to high blood pressure and allergy drugs.
The DHHR released the following statement: "We are bound by code not to release information regarding cases. It's under investigation by law enforcement."
How Pike died is still unclear but the report says his death "followed physical restraint for psychosis."
Pike's uncle, Mark Pike tells Eyewitness News, "We want someone to pay for it. We don't want these people responsible for his death to ever work in a health facility again."
