People in Verdunville and Mud Fork are struggling to clean up from a home flooding, bridge busting flood that swept thru their communities during heavy rains Thursday.
Some were unhappy they were not getting more help on private land, but. but the governor says help is on the way and that he hopes for federal help from FEMA too. People without Federal Flood Insurance are going to need it.
Many people living along the flooded creek say this is the highest water level they can recall. It dropped quickly leaving a muddy, destructive path behind. National Guard troops that had helped with tornado damage in Wayne County are being shifted to flood duty in Logan and Lincoln counties.
The governor declared a state of emergency in Logan and Mingo counties today. 11 counties are now under a state of emergency from recent weather emergencies.
Lincoln and Wayne are included in the list.
The state reports several million dollars in damage to public roads, water lines and sewer systems.
