Kanawha County Circuit Court Judge Duke Bloom gives 34-year old Gabriel Hargus five more years in prison for lying on his sex offender registry and failing to disclose information.
Assistant Kanawha County Prosecutor Fred Giggenbach was pleased with the outcome.
Hargus was originally convicted of sexually abusing a 14-year old girl and possessing child pornography.
He served time in Huttonsville...and was registering for 30 years of supervised release and as a sex offender when he gave a false birth date and didn't disclose an alias he had previously used. Hargus asked the court for the opportunity to prove he could comply with his requirements as a registered sex offender under supervised release.
However, Judge Bloom said he didn't find Hargus' testimony credible and levied the punishment of five more years.
After Hargus serves his time, he'll spend the next 25 years on supervised release and must register as a sex offender for life.
