Kenneth Carter is on trial in the beating death of roommate Ronald Forton.
Authorities found Forton's body in July after another roommate, Brady Dunlap, told them Carter beat him into unconsciousness and that they needed to check on Forton at their Charleston apartment.
Prosecutors contend that for some reason Carter suspected his two allegedly gay friends were making advances on his wife and was angry.
Under cross examination Dunlap admitted he gave misleading testimony about seeing the killing in magistrate court and that he had mental issues that sometimes led to hallucinations.
Carter's lawyer contends he slept through the murder and called 911 when he found blood pouring out of Dunlap's head wound..
