We now know the name of the man hit and killed by a truck late Thursday night.
According to a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 9pm on Call Road in the Sissonville area.
That's where deputies say 63-year old Danny Carpenter of Sissonville was walking, when a truck driven by 35-year old Shane Thaxton, also of Sissonville, hit him. Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene.
This deadly accident remains under investigation. Deputies do not believe that alcohol played a role.

A person is dead after they were hit by a car in Sissonville.
It happened on Call Road and Tupper's Creek Road around 9pm Thursday.
The name of the victim has not been released.
