The dangers of synthetic drugs such as K-2 and Bath Salts have sparked new legislation outlawing it in West Virginia, but Jackson County officials are still fighting it's use.
Both law enforcement and paramedics in Jackson County said synthetic drug use is still a problem.
They said it is easier for users to travel across the river into Ohio where state laws make it easier to obtain the drugs than in West Virginia.
Steve McClure, director, of Emergency Services said synthetic drugs can be more dangerous than the real thing.
"I think it's more dangerous, especially with the bath salts and things of that nature," McClure said.
