If you travel through one part of downtown Charleston, you'll need to take a different route while crews repair the sewer main that caused a huge sink hole late last week.
Larry L. Roller with the Charleston Sanitary Board (CSB) says starting Monday, February 27 from 7:00am-5:00pm, Summers Street between Virginia Street and Quarrier Street will be closed.
Last Friday, a huge sink hole forced crews to close the 100 block of Summers Street between Virginia Street and Quarrier Street. That sink hole was covered with a heavy steel plate, and traffic resumed as normal later in the day.
Roller says when the repairs begin Monday, there will be limited access to that block of Summers Street. Only local traffic will be permitted during those hours of scheduled work. The closure will last daily until the repair is complete.
