The suspect named in a Putnam County cold case will have to wait a bit longer before he faces a jury.
Matt Little is accused of murdering Yvonne Thomas back in 2001. For nearly a decade, investigators searched for a suspect and finally last November, Little was indicted for shooting and killing Thomas.
Little's trial was supposed to start on February 27th. Thursday, lawyers agreed to push it back to June because of a backlog of evidence and witnesses that each side still has to sort through.
Little's mother was in court on Thursday afternoon, claiming her son is not a killer.
"I just hope that Matt's innocence is proved. And that they will find the right killer of this woman. My heart goes out to her family. I couldn't imagine what they're going through. But I just don't want them to immediately think that Matt is the one," said Sheila Graham, Little's mother.
Little was already serving time at the Huttonsville Correctional Center on drug charges when he was charged in Thomas' murder.
