A mentally ill, but legally sane, Cabin Creek man was sentenced to two to ten years in prison Thursday afternoon for biting off another jail inmate's nose.
Judge Carrie Webster reluctantly ordered prison time for Roy Harvey.
The defendant, his lawyer, the prosecutor and the judge wanted Harvey to go to Sharp Hospital for treatment; but there was no legal way to do that for a convicted criminal.
Harvey was in the South Central Regional Jail on a parole violation when he snapped and bit off the tip of another inmate's nose in the fight during a card game.
