A Boone County man faces kidnapping, sexual assault, stalking, malicious wounding and arson charges after a bizarre series of events in Morrisvale.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office said deputies got a call around midnight from a woman who said she and four others were held hostage and assaulted by her estranged husband, Barry Wayne Clark.
Investigators said Clark beat and sexually assaulted his estranged wife, Chandra Clark, after she and a group of friends returned home from grocery shopping around 9 p.m. Monday night. Clark locked is estranged wife's friends in the bathroom during the assault.
Deputies said after a period of time the 61-year-old Clark set fire to the home and ordered the hostages to run away and threatened to kill them if they returned or called the police.
Deputies arrested the suspect around 5 a.m in a remote area of the woods after being taken there by family members. Investigators said Clark has had extensive run-ins with the law. Clark was out of jail on four separate bonds for other incidents including domestic assault and violating domestic violence petitions.
Deputes expect to make additional arrests in the case. Two other people helped beat Clark's wife. He is held without bond on the kidnapping charge and on a 140,000 dollar bond on the others.
