Despite carrying on the winning tradition of Capital High School's band, its director will likely be out of a job at the end of the school year.
Due to personnel cuts, Bobby Jenks has been bumped out of his position. Jenks, who led the Cougars to their 8th straight grand championship at the Kanawha County Majorette and Band Festival, is being let go due to seniority issues.
Jenks and three other teachers drew numbers out of a red solo cup at the board office. He drew number four.
Jenks took over this year for longtime band director Bob Scott, who retired after two decades of building the program into a powerhouse.
