Putnam County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Sorsaia has decided to not file for the county's vacant Circuit judge seat.
Longtime Circuit Judge O.C. Spaulding retired last year after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease.
The county clerk's office is waiting on the Governor's office to officially proclaim Judge Spaulding's seat as vacant, and that's when the county will start accepting candidates.
Eyes have turned toward Sorsaia, but he says wants to stick with what makes him happy.
"It was a great opportunity to be a judge, and there was pluses and minuses to doing that, but after that I talked to my wife at home and we just kind of concluded deep down that I really didn't want to be a judge. And you know, I really enjoyed being a prosecutor," explained Sorsaia.
Sorsaia says he has new plans and ideas for the prosecutor's office.
The deadline to file for the judge's seat is January 28th.
