Multiple West Virginia counties water service districts are under a boil water advisory. According to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), the advisories are being re-issued for numerous citations. Affected areas include the following: The Kanawha Falls Community Water Association in Fayette County -- due to improper treatment technique. Original advisory issued issued in September of 2003. Browns Water System in the White Sulphur Springs area of Greenbrier county -- due to failure to properly monitor the drinking water there. Original advisory issued in June of 2006. The Black Bear Lodge in the White Sulphur Springs area of Greenbrier county -- due to inadequate disinfection of the water. Original advisory issued in January of 2009. The Weyanoke Giatto Water System in the Matoaka area of Mercer county -- due to failure to properly monitor their drinking water. Original advisory issued in June of 2006. The Hiawatha Water Association in the Hiawatha area of Mercer county -- due to failure to properly monitor their drinking water. Original advisory issued in June of 2006. The Jenkinjones Community Water System in McDowell county -- due to inadequate disinfection and inadequate certified operator coverage at the water treatment plant. Original advisory issued in September of 2002. The O'Toole Water System in Anawalt area of McDowell county -- due to inadequate treatment and lack of a properly certified operator. Original advisory issued in May of 2002. 3 Way Super Stop Water System in the Iaeger area of McDowell county -- for failing to properly monitor the drinking water. Original advisory issued in June of 2006. Greenville Water Company in Monroe county -- due to inadequate or ineffective treatment. Original advisory was issued in April of 2009. The River Rest Home Owners Association in the Danville area of Summers county -- due to failure to properly monitor drinking water. Original advisory issued in June of 2006. The Pierpont Public Service District Water System in the Pineville area of Wyoming county -- due to lack of disinfection and no certified operator. Original advisory issued in June of 2006. The Herndon Community Water in the Bud area of Wyoming county -- due to inadequate operator coverage. Original advisory issued issued in January of 2011. Brookside Ostego Community Water in the Mullens are of Wyoming county -- due to inadequate operator coverage at the water treatment plant. Original advisory issued in September of 2007. Coal Mountain PDS Water System in the Coal Mountain area of Wyoming county -- due to inadequate disinfection of the water and no certified operator. Original advisory issued issued in June of 2006. If you live or work in any of these areas, you are urged to boil your water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, washing your hands, brushing your teeth, or bathing.
