It's a sad day for players, parents and coaches as Van Highschool's football program is put to an end.
It's the end of an era at Herschel Jarrell Field in Van.
A decision by the Boone County School Board spread through van quickly and painfully, that the high school's football program had played it's final season.
Coach Bob Mullett tells us the numbers simply didn't add up, not enough players in the school system to go out for football in turn, making it unsafe to go into another season.
Football parents in the community tell us they blame Coach Mullett for the lack of kids willing to get out on the field.
The thing that everyone agrees on is the sadness the community will feel as the lights they look forward too on Friday night's, wont be turned back on.
We tried contacting the Boone County School Board but they were unavailable for comment. As far as reinstating the program, Coach Mullett says it just depends on whether or not more students will move into the school system.
