Loved ones of a murdered Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy held a vigil Saturday, praying his killer stays in jail.
Robert Gray will be up for parole October 20th.
A judge sentenced him to life with mercy nearly two decades ago for the murder of Deputy John Janey.
Gray shot Deputy Janey three times during an insurance fraud investigation.
Janey's family is collecting signatures to give to the parole committee hoping to keep Gray where they say he belongs.
In memory of Janey, his brother and niece spoke about times they hold dear to their hearts. They say they will forever remember Janey's playful spirit and inviting smile.
