Gas prices have really taken a toll on the West Virginia State Fair. Crowds still came out to enjoy the sites, the music and the food, but not as many people from further away. From here in Charleston it takes roughly two hours to make the trip.
A round trip starting in Charleston to Fairlea, and driving a mid sized vehicle could cost you around fifty dollars. The high prices are also taking a toll on the fair's vendors who drive hundreds of miles just to make a living. Some vendors say they don't know if they will be able to go back next year, if gas prices continue to be this high.
