Construction workers assemble tables for Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center's new poker room.
The V-P of the track's parent company says withering criticism of the progress being made here is unfair.
Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center Vice President Dan Adkins says "It seems like because the Bellagio wasn't built in a day, we get turned on. I want everyone to understand. It's not going to be the Bellagio, okay. But it's going to be darn close. You're going to have a casino property here that the people can be proud of. Just give us a chance, work with us."
Adkins says a number of hurdles had to be cleared before Tri-State could start its hotel construction, including the faltering national economy.
He also says his company's track record at Tri-State should be evidence that the promised improvements are on their way.
"If you want some justification to give us a chance and work with us, look at our history. From 1989 until that election we were a great, and still are a great community neighbor and partner. We will be in the future. So, just give us that chance." says Adkins.
Tri-State is expected to begin dealing poker by August 22nd.
