In the past couple months, Geer Brothers Body Shop in Huntington has restored a handful of older cars as a way for customers to cut back on the cost of gas.

"They've already got their older car payed off," Brent Geer said. "They're trying to off-set the cost of a new one, that higher gas price has actually forced them to keep their older model vehicle versus paying for a newer model with everything that comes with it."

Repainting your car could cost thousands of dollars, but by not paying a monthly car payment, and higher insurance, Geer says customers are still saving substantially, and that money could go towards your gas tank and other rising costs.

Geer says even though giving an older vehicle a touch-up is better fuel for the road, it doesn't mean it's the best way to fuel the economy.

"Car sales really drive the economy, so I don't believe if everyone out there's pulling these old relics off the shelves, that's not going to fuel our economy."
