CONCERT FOR CHARITY
Rock Concert Benefits Needy

Six local bands put on a free rock concert at Davis Park in an effort to help needy families.

The group The Bridge organized the eight hour concert. It asked people stopping by to donate clothes which needy families could then pick up.

One of their members knows exactly what it is like to struggle to survive. Brandt Russo spent a year living on the streets. He decided to be homeless in order to better understand the problem he wanted to solve.

Russo wandered across the country for a year and learned most people don't expect to be homeless.

"It could happen to anybody," Russo said. "I've met millionaires on the streets."

Russo believes everyone in society has a responsibility to help out those who need it.

"We are a community of people," he said. "We are called to help each other because you do onto others as you want others to do onto you."
